Fremantle will not be able to use Wharfie Time during Saturday’s AFL grand final with the league making a call on the Dockers’ in-game activation.
The gimmick has been used twice this year, including in the final minute of the semi-final win over Geelong two weeks ago.
But it won’t be permitted during the grand final against Brisbane with the league preventing club-aligned themes as the game is considered neutral for both teams, according to SEN reporter Sam Edmund.

However, both teams will be permitted to play songs after goals.
Wharfie Time has become an iconic, but rare theme at Fremantle home games in recent years. When it gets flashed up on the big screen and the intro to the AC/DC’s song ‘Hells Bells’ blasts, the crowd goes wild.
It helped the Dockers get over the line against Hawthorn earlier in the season, while they also won the crucial centre clearance against Geelong when it was activated a fortnight ago.
But it has only been sued sparingly with limited details on who actually has the authority to press the button.
The Dockers couldn’t use it in the preliminary final as the game was at the SCG, but it didn’t matter as they stormed home with the final six goals to seal their spot in the grand final.
Fremantle players are a huge fan of the initiative with Judd McVee hoping it will be available for the grand final.
“Bloody oath I would,” he said before the decision had been made.
“For sure. Definitely. It’d be bloody awesome. We’ve never seen it at the ‘G, so I guess we’ll wait and see what it would be like.”
With songs permitted after goals, Charlie Cameron’s iconic “Take Me Home, Country Road” is certain to get a run.
Cameron kicked four goals in last year’s grand final win over Geelong with fans lapping up the song as the Lions cruised to a massive win.
