Sydney Sweeney strips down for latest ad campaign shot in Australia

Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney has turned heads again, this time for stripping down in a new advert for a sporting app.

In the clip, the US actress appears to be naked, with strategically placed footballs and sporting gear the only other props.

The campaign is for a sports prediction market company called Novig, a company she’s also an equity holder in.

The advert starts with Sweeney covering her chest with two footballs.

“Thinking of sports? Prove it,” Sweeney says.

“Novig is just sports, so they wanted to show … just sports,” she continues, sitting on top of a basketball ring, apparently naked and spinning a ball on her finger.

The clip then continues to show Sweeney playing different sports, including hockey, baseball and tennis.

“No politics, just you, your takes and sports,” the Euphoria star ends the controversial clip.

In an interview with Complex, Sweeney called the Just Sports campaign “a very simple and playful idea” aimed to “really bring the concept of ‘just sports’ to life”.

The US media outlet reported that Sweeney shot the revealing video while in Australia filming Netflix’s upcoming live-action Gundam film.

Some people have questioned how this almost-nude clip of Sweeney hasn’t been blocked by Instagram, with one person going as far as to call it “disgusting”.

But Sweeney said she was happy to “embrace a fun idea” and disrobe for the campaign.

“The concept is simple: cut through the noise and put the focus entirely on sports. The campaign brings that idea to life with confidence, humour and a playful edge,” she explained.

Sydney Sweeney’s new lingerie

In February, Sweeney launched her lingerie line SYRN and modelled the new range for the adverts.

The Hollywood star said baring her body was a personal choice — and a way of taking back control.

The actress turned heads during the press tour for her film The Housemaid, stepping out in a series of daring and revealing outfits that quickly sparked conversation online.

But Sweeney didn’t let the commentary deter her from launching her new line of intimate apparel, or from posing in it herself to promote the collection.

“This can be how I communicate to my audience,” Sweeney told Cosmopolitan.

“I want to show women that we can take back our power and fully free ourselves.”

In the interview, Sweeney acknowledged the campaign images would draw speculation about her motivations.

“People will say ‘Oh, she’s doing this for a guy’,” Sweeney said. “Or ‘Oh, she’s a guy’s girl’.”

However, she insists the brand is focused on empowerment and giving women agency over their own bodies.

“I want it to be their choice — the choice of the wearer — whether this is for them, for somebody else, or for a camera lens,” she said.
